In an alarming turn of events, the well-respected Contra Costa supervisor from the 1st district, John Gioia, turned his back on 125 pages of analysis by Contra Costa county that opposes the casino.  Gioia offered no reason why this prior analysis was swept under the rug.

Gioia is a “friend” to many environmentalists but has failed to be a leader in our most difficult times.  The rest of the Board of Supervisors voted according to his position.

His vote and advocacy for this project states that jobs, any kind of jobs, trumps the need for proper environmental analysis, environmental justice, and natural resource conservation.  Gioia clearly believes that money trumps ethics and analysis.
